Sundog Software Engineer Presents at SD West

Paul Bourdeaux, a Senior Software Engineer at Sundog, recently presented at SD West 2009 in Santa Clara, CA. The SD Conferences have a 25-year history of bringing together people from all aspects of the software development community. This international event is one of the largest of its kind with experts from many disciplines.

Paul was asked to present on his Sundog white paper: Code Coverage Revealed - Getting Effective Coverage Analysis from Software Unit Testing.

We asked Paul to share some experiences from the event:

My presentation focused on the analytics behind unit testing, how to interpret and use them, and how NOT to interpret and use them.

Initially I was worried about attendance, since I received the morning slot on the very last day of the weeklong conference.  Usually by Friday most people are conferenced-out, and nobody wants to get up that early on the last day.

I was pleasantly surprised to have a packed room for the session.  In fact, there were other sessions at the same time slot that had no attendees or just one. They had to bring in extra chairs for mine. Wow. After my presentation, I stayed behind and talked with several of the attendees.

It was great to hang out in the speakers lounge with the likes of Mike Cohn, Scott Ambler and other rock stars in the world of software development.  It was exhilarating to be talking as a peer with some of the authors of the books we have in the Sundog library.  Definitely something I would like to do again.
