Here at Sundog we create a lot of responsive websites.  Essentially you create one site which scales its size and changes its layout and content based on the browser resolution.

As of march 2012 a new study from StatCounter taking place from March of 2009 to March of 2012 shows that 1366x768 has overtaken 1024x768 for the top screen resolution used on the internet world wide. Looking at analytics data on the Sundog Interactive site from Feb 26, 2012 to March 27, 2012, 12.07% of visitors were using 1366x768 as their screen resolution and 8.7% were using 1024x768.
