The Minnesota Twins on Facebook and Twitter

In what is quite possibly the kindest thing any Kansas City Royals fan has ever done for fans of their rival (and I use the term “rival”  because I’m still stuck in 1985) Minnesota Twins, I have handed you the keys to following your Minnesota Twins this season via the two most-popular social networks, Facebook and Twitter.

On Facebook, it’s easy! Follow your Minnesota Twins through their official page at:
Minnesota Twins Facebook Page

They do a nice job of updating and linking back to their website at TwinsBaseball.com.

Also, go to the search engine and use the “Which Minnesota Twins Player Are You?” application. (I’m Michael Cuddyer…which is obvious, given the cannon arm I’m using to type this right now.)

On Twitter, there’s a wide variety of ways to follow your team.

The official Twitter page of the Twins is @MinnesotaTwins.  This is the only official Twitter page for the team itself.

Others that have a following, but are not official:
@twinsbuzztap
@Twins_News
@Twins
@twinsblogger
@twinswire
@TWINSpeeps
@TwinsTickets (secondary market tickets!)
@TwinsStuff (memorabilia and autographed items)
@TwinsCards (yep…baseball cards)
@TwinsMLBTweets
@TwinsComedy
…and there are about 15 more sites too.

You can follow individual players’ official pages as well…the complete list of all athletes pages can be found at twitter-athletes.com.

Follow these Twins players:
Joe Nathan (6777 followers) @JoeNathan36
Denard Span (4701 followers) @thisisdspan
Francisco Liriano (689 followers) @liriano47
Pat Neshek (3472 followers) @PatNeshek
Orlando Hudson (7579 followers) @orlandohudson

You can find Twitter pages for past Twins players, too…but none of them appear to be official? Searches for Harmon Killebrew, Kirby Puckett, Mike Pagliarulo, Greg Gagne and Bombo Rivera all turned up pages—but again, none of them appear to be the actual players’ pages.

Even the new ballpark has an unofficial Twitter page, @targetfield. The page tweets about stadium news and local weather.

I was hoping to find an official page for former Twins’ PA announcer Bob Casey as well…but didn’t find one. “@nosmokinginthemetrodome” would have been perfect!

A selfish attempt to start my own Twitter page about my nostalgic trips to the Metrodome by claiming “@WeLikeItHere” failed, because it’s already set up and tweeting about Minneapolis-St.Paul local news. And even though it has almost no followers, @homerhanky is also taken.

Baseball season is upon us. And this season will be more social than ever. If all of the above pages/people aren’t entertaining enough for you, following (White Sox Manager) Ozzie Guillen should liven things up…follow him at @OzzieGuillen.
