Every year, many thousands of presentations are uploaded to SlideShare on almost every topic imaginable. The site has 25 million visitors monthly so it gets used a lot! You can sort by popularity, and in 2010 the most popular presentation was this:

The above presentation was viewed over 100,000 times, so that’s considerable exposure for the presenter’s message.

Each year, SlideShare puts together a Zeitgeist Report that provides insights into the world of presentations. Some of the more interesting facts from this year’s include:

• The average number of slides per presentation is 19. However, popular presentations have an average number of 63 slides.
• PowerPoint is used for 96% of the presentations. It is interesting to note that while Keynote is used in only 1.7% of presentations, it accounts for 16% of the top 1000 presentations.
• The average number of words per slide in the top 1000 popular presentations is 24.
• Helvetica is the most popular font. Last year it was Arial.
• Social media was one of the most dominant subjects in 2010 (as it was in 2009).
