Creativity + Google + $6 = Dream Job
We’ve all heard that when it comes to searching for a job, it’s not what you know, but who you know. I personally think it’s a bit of both. Regardless of how you see it, networking is important and with the rise of social networks like LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter (just to name a few), social networking has become just as important and your social connections can be very valuable in assisting you in your job search. But what about using paid search to land your dream job?
That’s exactly what Alec Brownstein did. Last summer, Alec was looking for a change and hoping to land a job working for a creative director. He set up a Google Adwords campaign and bid on the names of six creative directors he wanted to work with. Over the next couple of months, Brownstein received calls from all but one of the creative directors whose names he had purchased. By the end of the year, he had two job offers and is now a senior copywriter at Young & Rubicam (Y&R) New York.
