DigiDay Mobile Keynote: 7 Key Trends Mobile Marketers Need To Know
At the DigiDay Mobile conference in New York, eMarketer analyst Noah Elkin offered up the following key trends during his keynote address:
- Mobile usage has become pervasive.
- Mobile devices and platforms have experienced dramatic evolution.
- The device market is shifting in favor of smartphones, and the U.S., is driving a lot of the demand.
- Increased ownership of smart devices is driving mobile Internet growth.
- Communication modes are undergoing a significant shift
- The base of mobile content users will continue to see strong growth.
- Tablets are changing the face of mobility and computing.
The one that immediately stuck out for me was number 3, The device market is shifting in favor of smartphones, and the U.S., is driving a lot of the demand.. First, it shows that the United States, who has always been a secondary player in mobile marketing despite one of the largest consumer bases, is finally establishing itself as a major mobile player. Second, the fact that the market is moving toward smartphones (and tablets) supports the case that the mobile web is the wave of the future for marketing.
