Email and Social Media Collaborating?
The future of email marketing seems to be a hot topic. Some believe email will be phasing out as social media takes over communication. However, I tend to agree with Sam Diaz in his blog, “Forrester: Email may be here to stay but it definitely needs an overhaul.”
Diaz admits that although email is far from the only form of communication offered, it isn’t dead. He suggests the best thing that email clients can do at this point is collaborate with social media. Attention spans for email and social media are getting shorter; more needs to be seen in one master location in order to continue to capture the interest of the users. If our Inbox combines email and social media, it may rise again as the go-to space for all avenues of communication, benefiting email clients and social media.
If email can continue down this path of collaboration, perhaps it will continue to be our main communication tool for years to come.
