Expanding Google’s Office 2.0 Package…GetYourWikiOn

Finally Google adds a wiki solution for its family of web-based office 2.0 services. Announced earlier today, the Google acquisition of Jotspot will make the popular collaboration platform a freebee much like gmail, spreadsheets, docs, etc.  Although wiki software has been around for a long time, we have yet to see adoption of the concept by such a large player as Google. To be fair, Apple’s latest OSX will have a built-in wiki server and of course Microsoft still has Sharepoint.

I’ve used Jotspot before but abandoned the service back when it was in a more evolutionary state. Having now revisited, I see they have been busy hardening the system and adding features. Mixing with Google and its massive infrastructure and supporting office productivity applications, will surely make for an interesting battle in the office 2.0 space. Jotspot has already started the conversion (mentioned here) and as you can see, very Googley.
