Facebook and Tablets
Two pieces of technology changing our lives and the world more rapidly than anyone could expect, are Facebook and tablets. However, there is one area I feel Facebook has fallen behind the cutting edge of technology where they are usually miles ahead. Facebook lacks an application specifically for the ipad and other tablets. So what’s the deal? Why doesn’t Facebook have an app for tablets?
According to TechCrunch, an iPad app for Facebook is somewhere out there, but is not available for the public yet. Facebook spent months playing down apps and playing up the HTML5 rich experience which seems to be one of their main reasons they haven’t announced one. On July 25, 2011 TechCrunch did speak with a rep from Facebook who said an app would launch in the near future. We will have to keep our eyes and ears open to the Facebook tablet application.
Currently, I log onto the Internet when navigating Facebook on a tablet. As I found on the iPad, the resolution of the iPhone app is does not perform top quality or satisfy my tablet desire. While Facebook does not have an app specifically designed for a tablet, this does not reduce my Facebook activity. However, it is frustrating to have a leading edge company fall behind in something that is becoming so involved in peoples’ lives.
When it comes time to make the decision, would you use the tablet app or end up going to the live site on the web?
