Fun Android Stats
Cellphones.org recently posted a fun fact page about the Android OS. I am an Android fan, so of course I had to check it out, and I encourage you to do the same. But be warned, the stts are being reported with an obvious Android spin to make the mobile operating system look a little more glamorous than it really is…
For instance, there is a bit of an apple to oranges comparison in state #8 - Android App Facts. They state
Between December of 2009 and July 2010, the number of apps in the Android Market grew from 16K to 70K
In January of 2010, iPhones had 140K apps
I’m not sure why they chose to use Apple data that was six months older than Android. As I brought up in a previous blog, both application markets are increasing at about the same rate.
Bias aside, the stats are still interesting. Like the fact that in an overwhelmingly male dominated smart phone market, Android is even more significantly so. And the fact that 9.7% of the active Android devices are still on the Cupcake version. Enjoy!
