Google Calendar Launches

I have to be honest, I’m not much of a calendar guy. I minimally use one at work to keep track of meetings, outside of that I find I have little use for calendars. Sometimes I’ve been suckered into buying one at those kiosks you find in the mall every December but that’s an entirely different story. Yesterday the much anticipated Google Calendar was launched and I’d have to say it looks pretty nice. In fact, Google seems to have gotten its groove back as the calendar is sleek and refined looking, not at all like some of Google’s other recent launches (Google Pages anyone?). It also appears to work pretty fast and is very responsive.

Since I’m not much of a calendaring person, I’m going to refrain from any sort of review and leave that up to people who actually lead an organized lifestyle. I do plan to give it a shot since I am a huge fan of gMail, so we’ll see how it goes. It doesn’t look like you can sync with other calendars, so it will be tough to keep my work schedule since I’m tied to Entourage. Give it a few days and some enterprising hackers will write a script that will do it for me. I’d hate to manually import my calendar once a day because I’d remember to do that twice and forget about it.

It will be interesting to see how 30boxes stands up now with Google on the block.
