Google says Chrome is ready for business
Google announced yesterday that they believe Chrome is ready for the business environment. With its increased security, speed and HTML5 capabilities, more businesses have been coming to them asking how they could deploy and use Chrome in the workplace. Google responded.
They released today a few tools that allow IT managers to deploy and manage the installation of Chrome across their organizations. They’ve put out an MSI installer for those businesses who use deployment tools to install applications across their Microsoft Windows domains. They also added support for Group Policy management and defining the browsers setting and security.
They mentioned that even if your company can’t fully move to Chrome as your default browser, you can use the help of Chrome Frame, a plug-in for Internet Explorer that uses Chrome to render HTML5 pages while still allowing access to legacy sites with Internet Explorer.
Many businesses are excited about what Chrome offers and some (Vanguard, Boise State University, and Procter & Gamble - named directly in the post) have already deployed Chrome to their users.
If you haven’t checked out Chrome yet, maybe it’s time to take a good look at it. Personally, it’s the only browser I use anymore.
