Have A Merry Mobile Holiday Season - Part 2!
Earlier this month, I blogged that 59 percent of mobile consumers plan to use their mobile phone for holiday shopping and planning holiday celebrations, not including making phone calls. Well, some retailers have seen the light, and launched aggressive mobile campaigns over the Thanksgiving holiday - taking advantage of both Black Friday and Cyber Monday shoppers. Here are some great examples!
Want to know when the next shipment of Squinkies and LaLaLoopsy dolls arrive at the local Toys R Us? Sign up for their mobile messaging service and you will receive a text the instant they hit the shelves. (And for those not in the know, LaLaLoopsy Dolls and Squinkies are this year’s ZhuZhu Pets. Still confused? Ask the nearest parent of an elementary school kid.)
Plan on shopping at Target? Not only do they have a great mobile web presence, but they also offer and accept mobile coupons, and their 2010 holiday catalog is filled with QR codes that you can scan for holiday decor tips! Not good enough? Then download the Target iPad application and make your shopping list while flipping through their weekly ads (and listening to holiday music in the background to boot).
Interested in more location-based mobile goodness? Then head to one of the 257 Best Buy stores in Minnesota with your free Shopkick application downloaded on your phone. Just for entering the store, you will receive exclusive coupons and “kickbucks” which can be redeemed for gift cards and in-store discounts. You can scan additional items in the store for even more kickbucks.
This is just the tip of the mobile iceberg. Send me a message or comment on this blog with some of the creative mobile campaigns you see in your area this holiday season!
