Mobile Broadband Will Hit 1 Billion Users In 2011

According to Ericsson, mobile broad band subscription will hit 1 billion users in 2011. Business Insider said it best - this is not only exiting, it is HUGE!

Mobile broadband is growing at a faster rate than traditional internet service ever did. Subscription numbers just hit half a billion in 2010, and we are expecting it to double in a matter of months. And that rate is increasing, By 2015, Ericsson expects the subscription totals to top 3.8 billion.

The striking part of these numbers isn’t just the sheer size, but rather the percentage of the population base. According to Ericsson, 200 million of the expected 1 billion subscribers in 2011 will be based in North America. That is nearly 60% of the total population of US and Canada, and that percentage will continue to rise over the next five years.
