New Kiosks in the Battle Against DUIs and STDs

Ladybug Teknologies, a socially-focused technology company that develops products related to alcohol consumption, has introduced a new breathalyzer kiosk. The kiosk allows bar patrons to check their Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) before they get behind the wheel and drive. The SipSmart Network kiosk, utilizing a police-grade breathalyzer, allows drinkers to test their BAC three times a night at participating bars. The cost is $5, plus $.50 for the resusable mouthpiece.

The company also markets a personal breathalyzer and a smart phone app that tracks the number of drinks you have consumed and gives you an estimate of your BAC.

STD Kiosk
The kiosks, located throughout L.A. County, allow visitors to sign up for a free home-testing kit. The kiosk prints a form and mailing label which the person can then use to pick-up a testing kit at their local pharmacy. Once they take the test, they apply the mailing label printed from the kiosk and drop it in the mail. Their results can be checked securely, utilizing a personal code generated by the kiosk, at the county’s STD website or by calling a toll-free phone number.
