This is the third in a series of five Slideshare decks from TrendsSpotting. Each slide deck outlines major trends ahead for various marketing/consumer topics. The slides above highlight key factors influencing online marketing in 2009.

While the slides are a compilation of many different sources and points of view, there are some patterns emerging. Overall, advertising for offline media will be down substantially in 2009. However, online advertising – including search advertising – will be up again in 2009 in spite of a troubled economy. Online video advertising could be up as much as 45%. Another trend where there is general agreement is that the cost for advertising online in 2009 will drop considerably. That’s good news for marketers who are trying to stretch precious budget dollars with online media.

The general trend is highlighted by Ashkan Karbasfrooshan, CEO of Mojo Supreme, “While Fortune 500 marketers will reduce their ad budgets too, they will continue to shift dollars away from untracked, offline media to online, tracked media.”
