Online Stores Have A Lot To Lose With Too Little Information

A recently released national study conducted by Allurent reveals two eye-opening statistics:

“67% of consumers who have visited an online store, intending to buy, left the site because the retailer did not provide enough product information.”

“83% would buy more online if retailers added more interactive and interesting ways to display and purchase products.”

Website features that online shoppers seek include:
• Viewing the shopping cart while still being able to access product information, photos, etc., and also being able to add the viewed item to the cart;
• Clickable photos and videos to instantly get more information about items without having to leave their present page;
• The ability to see different items at the same time (fashion, decorating, etc.) to see how everything looks together.

Many of the above features can be added to a website with Rich Internet Applications. According to Allurent CEO Joe Chung, “Rich Internet Application solutions present an incredible opportunity for retailers to drive additional dollars to their bottom line by providing a superior customer experience that supports and extends their overall brand. He added, “We think the Web in five years won’t look anything like it does today, but today looks a lot like it did five years ago.” Big changes are ahead.
