QR Codes From Beyond The Grave?
OK, we already know that QR codes are practically everywhere. But apparently, practically wasn’t good enough for Japanese memorial stone maker Ishinokoe. Yeah, you know where this is going...

I give you - QR grave stones, or Kuyou no Mado in Japanese, roughly translating to “Memorial Service Window”. The QR codes will be embedded in the grave stone, and will give visitors who scan them access to pictures, videos, message boards, etc. It is actually an interesting idea that has been used in other social caring page sites. We have already seen sites like Caring Bridge offer QR codes for patient websites. This follows the same premise - and gives people a place to remember and converse about the deceased.
Whether it takes off or not remains to be seen, but at the minimum it is yet another example of how mobile is becoming more and more intertwined into our daily lives.
