“Regret the Error” Collects Media Mistakes

Continuing this week’s mistakes and complaints theme (see posts from Ron and Greg): Regret the Error compiles corrections from media outlets across the world. The hilarious (and often painful) collection reminds us how easy mistakes can occur.

The errors can be viewed by publication, category and date. The year’s best submissions are honored with “Crunks” in several categories.

A few recent favorites from the site:

From Parade.com:
The issue of Parade magazine included in today’s editions of The Sun contains an item in the “Personality Parade” column saying that Barbaro is in improving health. Because the magazine’s publication schedule runs weeks in advance of distribution, the item was written before the horse’s death and could not be corrected in time.

From the LA Times:
‘The Supreme Court’: A review in Wednesday’s Calendar section of a PBS documentary about the Supreme Court said there was a justice named Hamburger. There was a chief justice named Warren Burger.

From the New York Times:
An article last Thursday about the theft of 450 bottles of wine, valued at $100,000, in Atherton, Calif., misstated the price of the average bottle stolen in some copies. It was $222, not $3,000.
