The iTunes Signature Maker

It’s sites like the iTunes Signature Maker that keep me feeling young every day. My curiosity drives me to find new, fun stuff to play with and so far the interweb has proven to be a constantly refreshed source of wonder and amazement to me. Jason Freeman created a java application that creates a musical signature for you from the songs you’ve got in iTunes. He could never answer the question that befuddles the best of us, “So, what kind of music do you listen to?” When your answer isn’t U2, Bon Jovi or Garth Brooks you tend to get a confused face staring back at you with that “Who is Opti-Grab?” look on their face.

The things people are doing on the Web these days are quite amazing. Sure, mashing some song samples together into a short file isn’t going to change the world, and calling it amazing is a bit of an exaggeration. But the fact that somebody only needs the idea and some spare time to make something come to life is truly incredible. The toughest part most people, myself included, run into is finding the time to bring the idea to fruition. Still, there seems to be an endless supply of people that have mastered time management or don’t need to sleep, and for that I say thank God. A world without mostly useless tools like the iTunes Signature Maker would be a pretty boring place to spend our time.

So, to answer the question I’ve never been able to answer before, here is what kind of music I listen to (9.4mb, .wav).  Thanks Mr. Freeman.
