We’ve Got Jobs

A recent CareerBuilder.com article puts the Midwest on the map with several of the top 15 hot spots for job seekers. The ranking is primarily based on lowest unemployment rates, but they have also included mean annual wage as well as the most prevalent local industries and occupations.

Fargo, ND holds the number one slot with a 1.7% unemployment rate. Although most of the city’s workforce is tied to educational, health and social services, other industries (such as Sundog’s) are also flourishing and offering respectable opportunities for job seekers.

Curiously, the MSN Careers version of this story has a different rank order as follows: Fargo, Logan, Billings, Charlottesville, St. George, Provo-Orem, Bismarck, Ames, Iowa City, Huntsville, etc. Although both sites list the same cities, the discrepancies confirm the obvious…job seekers still have some homework to do.
