Internet Advertising Surpasses Newspaper Advertising In U.K.

The U.K. has served as a bellwether for U.S. Web trends, so a report from PricewaterhouseCoopers indicating Web advertising revenue has now exceeded newspaper advertising revenue in the U.K., points to a similar scenario here in the near future. Web advertising in the U.K. grew an astonishing 41 percent in 2006, while newspaper advertising only increased 0.2 percent (BBC story here).

According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), Web advertising revenues in the U.S. grew 34 percent in 2006. This exceeded the 32 percent growth rate in 2005.
